Generally speaking you want to install the trim first and the carpet second.
Carpet first or trim.
Second drywall would wick up moisture from flooded floors or carpet.
Personally i think it looks better with the baseboards and trim in first especially upon the second time carpet is installed because the installers don t pull the trim and get in close when they pull old carpet and put in new.
I install the flooring first then trim tight to it.
How to install trim first.
If you re replacing carpet first before painting it will be easier for the flooring company.
However since there may be instances where you re just replacing trim but leaving carpet or have a reason to do the carpet first i ll give instructions for both methods.
